Hands-on Common Core PD for Informational Reading

A year from now, Connecticut will officially adopt the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). And yet, at edCampCT a few weeks ago, only one district at the Common Core session had any experience aligning their curriculum with the Common Core (New Britain).

In an effort to familiarize our New Canaan High School teachers with the CCSS guidelines for informational reading, our ICT department collaborated with the English and social studies department chairs to develop a brief hands-on training session.

Heidi D'Acosta, our English Department Chair, took the lead on developing this activity, so the credit goes to her, but I thought I would share, in case anyone else is looking for CCSS PD activities.

  1. I'd like to get an embed code to share the PPT at my school with a link to your site and giving full credit. Would that be possible?

  2. Hi Michelle,
Similar to the previous comment, I'd like permission to use your ppt in a Massachusetts librarian training, with attribution and a link to your site.
    Thanks, Robin
