Back to School Message: We Trust You!

Well, after a hurricane, and a week-long delay, our students finally returned to school today. Thank goodness! The building always seems so empty without them! Our first day is traditionally a half day for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Our freshmen eat lunch together, then attend an assembly and end the day with the guidance team. It's a nice transitional day.

For the first time in years, the library requested the floor at today's assembly - just for five minutes. After making the request last spring, we wondered what we could say about the library in five minutes that would seem useful or memorable to freshmen on their first day of high school. Then, Joyce Valenza posted her students' library orientation video on her School Library Journal blog, The Never Ending Search, and we were inspired. So, on the last day of the 2010-2011 school year, our students helped us put together our presentation for the first day of the 2011-2012 school year. It follows.
