#15 edWeb.net/emergingtech Session15 (Sep. 14, 2011 4AM, EST)

It's almost here! Banned Websites Awareness Day (BWAD) is just over two weeks away, and this Wednesday's edWeb.net Emerging Tech webinar; (9/14 at 4PM EST) will focus that and more - what you can do to promote the freedom to read, learn, and publish online in K-12 education. We will talk about policies, rationales, and we will look at several lessons.

Lots of folks have been asking what they should DO on September 28th to celebrate AASL's Banned Websites Awareness Day. We are compiling a list of suggested activities into an editable document. The document is embedded in the bannedsites.info website. We encourage you to add your thoughts! Just know that the document is public.

I have a confession to make. Until yesterday, I wasn't really sure what we were going to do at New Canaan High School, which is a free-range media school. Oh, I had ideas, but nothing that really gelled for me. Then I ran it by our new  and most awesome principal, Dr. Bryan Luizzi. He made a BRILLIANT suggestion. I am keeping it secret until the webinar - mainly because I haven't yet shared the idea with our teaching and learning community ;-).
I really hope you can make it to Wednesday's webinar. It's at 4PM on Wednesday (Eastern). We are back to the academic school year time slot now that it is in full swing.

"See you" soon!
:-)ML

But before Wednesday, there is today! Be sure to join TL Virtual Cafe tonight, Mon. 9/12 at 8PM EST where The Mighty Little Librarian Tiff will present Back to School Special: 7 Web Savvy Starts to a New Year! This evenings festivities will be emceed by Gwyneth Jones, AKA The Daring Librarian. Please come and join us!
